Personal Productivity Coaching (Step #2)

You've got to think about the big things,
while you're doing small things,
so that all the small things
go in the right direction.

- Alvin Toffler

What are you accountable for?

2) Account

What are your responsibilities and commitments (daily, weekly, monthly, annually)? Are they written down?
What is your purpose?
What are your goals?
How will you achieve your goals?

Your purpose, or mission, is the overall impact that you intend to create within your area of responsibility and for the organization.

Write/list the 4-5 major accountabilities / responsibilities that you have. For each of those areas, write the purpose and goal statement for each area. Keep this list in front of you and review it frequently. As you get involved in new projects, make sure your new project aligns with one of your long term goals.

To maintain your focus and clarity, track your projects by the intended outcome. One of the best ways to keep lists of your goals and active projects is to use Microsoft Outlook. (Mac users use Microsoft Entourage.)

For a quick reference on using Microsoft Outlook for managing workflow, projects and goals, see the Personal Productivity System.
